Rescue Training Day

24/03/2014

All of the officials at Mendips Raceway are trained and certificated by the ORCi, the governing body of oval racing in the UK and Europe.

With the new season coming up fast, we recently held a training day, with a refresher course for all marshalls, and test papers for three staff that are progressing their duties.

Michael Elliott Turner, as announced at the Dinner, will be training and working as Starter, and his brothers Richard, and Dave Robbins have both taken Clerk of Course exams.

In addition, we held a Rescue rehearsal, together with FAST Ambulance service, where a casualty was removed from a damaged car by means of removal of the roof and steering wheel using our rescue equipment.

All staff acquitted themselves well, and Tom Davey played a convincing casualty!

Many thanks to Lee Norman for the supply of the car.
