Welcome to another bank holiday – this time in the darling buds of May. Another packed Mendips pits awaits with formulas galore!
The smaller bangers break the seal for season 2026, with extra fun where wrecking is not the name of the game and nudging and spinning to victory. The field is led by regulars Louis Tomkins (105) and Chrissy Jeanes (113) who have been the constant ones to watch. Double PRI World Champ Jake Bond (743) returns to his roots and Brad Hunt (775) also is one to watch. Favourite of the commentator Jamie Waller Jones, Sweet Pete Warren (366) is back for another season of fun!
Another meeting after the busy Easter double header, which saw a dominant display from Andy King (51) on his only appearance of the weekend of the Sunday, and a debut weekend for Alex Bressington (270) following in his dad Andy's (278) footsteps with a heta and final double. Ben Bristow (66) also was in victory lane also. Grade changes should see a few changes and a variety of winners
The youngsters got the season under in true style with some excellent racing. Archie Bryant (511) took a maximum score to kick off proceedings. Jenson Harris (99) took the other win. The class of 26 newbies got some excellent track time with Lana Jeanes (133) the returning Jenson Bevan (49). Another big field awaits for the stars of
tomorrow.
A fairly busy field after top notch World Qualifier, where the Scots came down and took top honours back over the border, with Euan Millar (629) taking the final as the Gerry Dommett trophy took a Caledonian victor for the second year in a row. Neil Hooper (676) rolled back the clock to take a heat, whilst regulars Dan Kent (976) and Luke Wrench (560) took wins. The undoubted star of the show was Jason Ward (501) who now has traded in his yellow top for the heady heights of superstar. Today sees a lot of grade changes from a lot of big names dropping to blue, including regular winners Matt Stoneman (127), Charlie Fisher (315) and Sam Weston (468). Chris Mikulla (522) returns to F2 a stint in
Today also sees the return of the Mighty Whites series, individual white top races kindly sponsored by Mendips legend Mike Cocks to give a first chance to win, but rewarding the guys at the front with a decent prize pot!
One of the oldest domestic banger titles is back for its 26th running and a packed grid awaits Whilst the "purists" decree the lack of full contact, we would rather a fuller grid with progressive contact, like the glory days of old.
We would like to thank Jon Ayles for his hard work in organising such a fabulous meeting, where we hope to see a classic day of Unlimited Old Skool Banger Racing!
An excellent field of 30 cars will Thunder around the Cheddar Oval, with locals such as 154 Joe Odhams, 47 Alex Knight and BRCM duo 262 Roona and Macauley Mills chasing the title, meanwhile the every lightning fast 739 Jason Moore and former National Bangers World Champion 67 Rickie Beasley will sure be drivers to put your bets on!
The wibble wobble merchants are back for another couple of treacherous negotiations of the Mendips Quarter Mile. Points champ Tom Weeks (100) took maximum racing points. Joe Odhams (154) and Sid Harrison (510) also had good showings
Keep an eye on the rollovers – they have been plentiful and bountiful! And if there is not enough fibreglass rearrangement, the last race willbe a Caravan Hare and Hounds – sheer mayhem incoming!
Next time – there is the Whitsun Bank Holiday Weekend with another packed lot of meetings and also on May 16th, Mendips plays host the Gold Rush, which is being promoted by our promotion colleagues Spedeworth. For the latest info, check out the socials and the website Mendipsraceway.com
