Welcome once again to another cracking weekend of racing here at Mendips. Another packed pits awaits with action close and brash for your entertainment
After last time saw a good standard of racing despite some last minute withdrawals as a result of injury, damage and misdemeanour, it was National Points Series Champion Charlie Guinchard (183) who stood out with a hefty haul. Fellow traveller Jack Witts (880) took a race win and Matt Stoneman (127) took a win to break his Bristol duck for the season.
Alfie Brimble (235) will be looking to take full advantage of his white grade – regular race wins and flying lessons at Aldershot! Look for the regulars from the yellow Dan Kent (976) and the speedway legend Rich Andrews (605) JUNIOR RODS The youngsters are out again for another run and it has been all about the dominance of Archie Bryant (511) who has dropped only a point this season. True dominance and great things await the youngster. Dan Gunfield (16) took a win last time, but Liam Mitchell (149) got good scores and a cheeky final podium.
This is the first meeting under new grades so lets see who gets going!
Fresh from the banga-ranga of Saturday nights Gold Rush for the national build variety of the similar cars, its the nudge and spin, semi skimmed version which return to normal matters. Star of the show last time out was Junior Rod graduate Tom Dalton (229) on his rookie debut took the heat and the allcomers, and lead the final for ages until he came across the action! After another win for legendary Louis Tompkins (105) and Harry Thompson (956) getting the advantage in the final. Plenty of cars booked in, so expect some action today!
The 2L Bangers are back in action this weekend, with current all rounder
154 Joe Odhams leading the line up, joined by the recently returned to racing 781 Blake Dudley. We also get too the chance too see 11 Evan Cotterall back out in the Nationals tuff, who will be looking too fend off Points leader 440 Macauley Mills.
The tin top tearaways are back to entertain. Andy King (51) leads the way with a 100% race win this season. He’s have more, but he missed the Easter Monday meeting! Keeping him honest are the Bristow boys Tom (60) and Ben (66) who are showing some awesome stuff. Alex Bressington (270) is doing the business in his debut season and is one to watch.
Its Crazy Day for the Robins and now with over 40 rollovers in the robins so far, just how much more crazy can they get. Plenty of ideas for crazy races have been dreamt up by the powers that be, fuelled by scrumpy! Last time, there were race wins for Pugs (154) and the returning Loaders Aaron (362) and Macca (14). Speaking of which, there is a return of naughty girl and now mummy Immy (669) who has a rare robin to see. There should be a return for hot rodding Tom Weeks (100) NEXT TMIE Two massive weekends coming to your Mendips Raceway.
First up, if you like your stunt shows and cars, the Mendips Motofest is your plan – June 13th and 14th. Monster truck, funfairs and race demos – a high octane weekend for the petrolhead!
