It was a dry afternoon for the P.R.I. Banger World Championship. The top 5 in each last Chance Qualifier Heats plus the Entertainer joined the seeded drivers, in the World Final, although there were less cars than last year there was still plenty of action, and there was a lot of driver’s taking home some very bent motors. In the Saloon Stock Cars 136 Harry Bruce came down from Scotland.
22 cars came out for the 1st LCQ , and amongst the action in the 1st heat there was a pile up in the pit bend leading to a stoppage, 13 cars made the re-start led by 198 Owen Nichol. There was a few cars got spun out and Nichol got spun out and was collected head on by 309 Andy Oliver leading to another stoppage, 932 led the re-start from 333 Charlie Randell, 9 cars made the distance with Randell taking the win from 205 Alex Ganter. The Entertainer award went to 271 Jordan Coleman.
14 of the non qualifiers managed to repair their cars for the 2nd LCQ, amongst the action 160 Jamie Warr jacked up Nichol and there was action on the pit bed, and Oliver followed in 11 Evan Cotterall, and 177 Ryan Mills jacked up Warr, then Cotterall jacked up Miles, then 6 Troy Jones jacked up Cotterall, only 5 cars made the distance with 139 Thomas Dimascio taking the win. and Cotterall taking the Entertainers Trophy but Cotterall’s car was to wrecked to take his place on the grid.
36 cars came out for the World Final 252 Boogie took the early lead from 2nd, on the grid, then 186 Lewis Fasey passed Boogie for the lead, then 73 Sam Wilkinson took a massive hit and there was a stoppage to check on him who was ok. Just before the re-start Fasey pulled of gifting Boogie the lead. Amongst the action there was a lot of crashed cars on the turnstile bend then Roona made it up to 2nd, and when the leaders was negotiating the parked cars 760 Joey Reynolds reversed in the path of Boogie so he shoved him round, and a bit later Roona took the lead, then Boogie decided to steam into the turnstile bend pile up, and after the chequer’s a lot of other drivers decided to join the party!! Roona went on to take the win from 382 Jack Foster Jnr, then 440 Macauley Mills.
20 Cars made it out for the allcomers and amongst the action J.Reynolds and Warr was dishing out the big hits, then Warr and 932 had a head on and Randell jacked up Warr then there was a stoppage, 6 cars made the restart with Boogie in the lead, only 3 cars made the distance with Boogie taking the win from Mills, then 662 Jared Roe, and J.Reynolds took the Entertainers trophy.
17 cars came out for the Allcomers. Roe took up the lead and led for a long time, and the race ended with Roona attempting a last bender from a long way back on Roe which ended up with them both in the parked cars and 248 Jamie Blything taking the win, the D/D ended with a head on between 31 Liam Shipway and 648 Jamie Smith and Smith took the win.
13 cars came out for the 1st Heat, 444 Kieran Bellringer took the early lead from pole then 314 Bryan Finch made it up from 6th on the grid to take the lead, then Bruce made it up to 2nd and stayed in 2nd for most of the race, amongst the action 199 Phil Powell was sent hard into the fence, and 84 Carl Boswell got ½ spun, and 112 Richard James and Bellringer, had a coming together, and James spun out 768 Joe Delahay, Finch went on to take the win, from 577 Harry Darby then 720 Archie Brown.
13 cars came out for the 2nd Heat 111 Thomas Ruby took the early lead and led for a long time further back there was a big battle amongst the Red and Star graded drivers, and in the last corner sort out , 364 Nathan Olden and P.Powell both got spun out and 382 Corey Hunt took the win from Brown, from H.Darby then Buster.
13 cars made it out for a hard hitting Final, Ruby took the early lead from 2nd on the grid, and Brown got spun out got spun out and done a complete 360 then carried on, then Bruce made it up to from 4th on the grid to take the lead then Finch briefly led before there was a big sort out on the turnstile bend and H.Darby went from 5th to 1st, and Buster made it up to 2nd before retiring, H.Darby went on to take the win from Brown, then 677 Warren Darby.
11 cars survived for the Allcomers, Ruby took the early lead, before Bruce took up the running, then just before the ½ way mark Brown took the lead, further back Hunt Fired W.Darby into the wall only for W.Darby to repay the compliment again, then Hunt fired W.Darby into the wall again, and on the last corner W.Darby fired Hunt into the wall so hard he bent his own front bumper!! Brown went on to take the win, from H.Darby, then Buster, then Bruce.
