REPORT: Back to Basics! Sun 27th August 2023

It was an overcast afternoon with dry track conditions.

B2B BANGERS HEAT ONE

23 cars came out for an action-packed 1st Heat with only 7 cars making the distance, with 129 Lee Daton taking the win from 23 Clive Crockford, then 328 Mike Parry.

B2B BANGERS HEAT TWO

17 cars came out for a tamer 2nd Heat, and amongst the action 662 Jared Roe spun 519 Jason Witney out, then, Roe spun 105 Leo Horwell to the wall. Then 22 Jai Simmons ½ spun 210 Ryan Brooks then Brooks was collected by 394 Benny Myers, M.Parry went on to win from 746 Deejay Tyler, then Simmons.

BANGERS HEAT FINAL

18 cars for an action packed Final. 595 Ben Wall took the lead from pole and amongst the action 12 Kieron Bradley was sent the length of the straight sideways by the pack before carrying on, and Horwell was the 1st to be spun into the pit bend wall and got stranded, and a lot of cars got involved in a pile up on the pit bend,  then M.Parry spun Dalton into the wall, then Dalton spun M.Parry out then with 3 to go 17 Adam Welshman shoved Wall into the pile up, then on the last corner Roe shoved Welshman wide and Roe just pipped Welshman to the post in the drag to the line, only 8 cars made the distance and Roe was docked two places for jumping the start giving Welshman the win from Tyler, then Roe.

BANGERS ALLCOMERS RACE

13 cars came out for the allcomers race and only 5 cars made the distance, and amongst the action Wall had a big introduction to the wall setting of his air bag, and they was pile up on the back straight, and there was a good scrap for the lead, Crockford went on to win from M.Parry, then Brooks.

BANGERS D/D

7 cars came out for the D/D where 61 Beth Stevenson jacked up Simmons then Myers jacked up Stevenson leading to a stoppage for Stevenson who was ok, on the re-start Myers turned it around and hit Crockford head on then Simmons jacked up Crockford leaving Crockford as the meat in the sandwich, and Crockford needed medical assistance to the D/D was cancelled.

BRISCA F2 WHITES ONLY RACE

6 cars came out for the Wites only race 235 Alfie Brimble passed 504 Dave Rudall passed Rudall for the lead and went on to win from 762 Mike Cocks, then 856 Jamie Cocks.

BRISCAF2 WHITES AND YELLOWS RACE

12 cars came out for the Whites and Yellows race, and Brimble’s car refused to start, 121 Vinni Neath -Rogers took the early lead from 2nd on the grid and led for a while before J.Cocks took up the running, J.Cocks went on to take the win from Rogers then, M.Cocks.

BRISCA F2 HEAT ONE

12 cars came out for the 1st Heat and J.Cocks took a flag to flag victory, with Rogers coming home 2nd , from 605 Richard Andrews, with 24 Jon Palmer the 1st Red top in 4th,  from 542 Steven Gibert.

BRISCA F2 HEAT TWO

12 cars made it out for the 2nd Heat, Rogers took the early lead from pole with J.Cocks slotting into 2nd from 4th on the grid, then with 4 to go Palmer made it up to 3rd and shoved J.Cocks wide to take 2nd, and on the last lap Palmer shoved Rogers wide to take the lead and on the last lap Rogers tried pushing Palmer wide but Palmer hang on to take the win from Rogers, then J.Cocks, then Gilbert, then Moss.

BRISCA F2 FINAL

13 cars came out for the Final, M.Cocks took the early lead from 3rd on the grid then, Rudall got past M.Cocks to take the lead , then M.Cocks re-took the lead, then 588 Mike Kingston ended up facing the wrong way and 890 Paul Rice hit Kingston head on leading to a stoppage, Rogers led the re-start from M.Cocks then Andrews, then Moss, then Gilbert, then Palmer, Moss then gave Andrews a big hit to take 3rd, Then Moss and Palmer passed M.Cocks, and Rogers for 1st and 2nd and Rogers kept up with the front two for quite a few laps before losing ground, then just before the halfway Palmer passed Moss for the lead Palmer went on to win from Moss then Gilbert.

BRISCA F2 GRAND NATIONAL

12 cars came out for the Grand National Rogers had a flag to flag victory and J.Cocks slotted into 2nd from 4th on the grid, and Moss made it up to 3rd and tried a last bender on J.Cocks but J.Cocks hung on to take 2nd, with Moss coming home in 3rd, from Gilbert, and Palmer made it up to 8th from the lap handicap.

JUNIOR RODS HEAT ONE

The Junior Rods was running a 2/3rds Format and it was another destructive afternoon in the Junior Rods with a lot of damaged cars. 17 cars came out for the 1st Heat and 511 Archie Bryant shot straight in to the lead from 3rd on the grid with 99 Jenson Harris slotting into 2nd, then 111 Olly Bryant  was quick up to 3rd from 6th on the grid, then O.Bryant found a way past Harris for 2nd, then 618 Rio Bates took 3rd, then 28 Jake Ralfs and found a way past Bates to take 3rd, and  on the last lap whilst they was going through the backmarkers Ralfs nipped up the inside of O.Bryant, and Ralfs and O.Bryant  crossed the line side by side and O.Bryant just pipped Ralfs to the post. A.Bryant went on to take the win by ½ a lap, from O.Bryant then Ralfs (from 15th on the grid), then 258 Riley Brimble (from 16th on the grid).

JUNIOR RODS HEAT TWO

17 cars came out for the 3rd Heat, A.Bryant again shot into the lead from 3rd on the grid, and quickly built up a big lead, and 620 Austin Latimer retired with damage and Bates got shoved and ended up sideways across the track in the path of 924 Joshua Heathcote and J.Heathcote accidently T-Boned Bates. A.Bryant led the re-start from 66 Taylor Mitchell, then Harris, then there was a bit of a melee on the pit t bend and Harris ended up hitting the wall very hard. A.Bryant led the re-start for a 4 lap dash and A.Bryant went on to take the win from Mitchell, then 14 Macca Loader, then Ralfs (from 16th on the grid).

JUNIOR RODS HEAT THREE

15 cars made it out for the 3rd Heat, 301 John Penfold was quick to take the early lead from 5th on the grid, then 429 Tristen Heathcote tried to go round the outside of Penfold, and they spent a few laps side by side, before T.Heathcote could make it stick, T.Heathcote went on to take the win with Penfold crossing the line in 2nd, but Penfold was docked two places for not holding a racing line, giving Mitchell 2nd, and O.Bryant 3rd.

JUNIOR ROD FINAL

17 cars came out for the Final and A.Bryant took the early lead and built up a big lead, with Penfold slotting into 2nd,  and O.Bryant tried to go round the outside of Penfold but couldn’t make it stick, then there was a bit of melee and Loader accidently T-Boned Brimble, and 184 Callum Preston slowed and swerved into the path of A.Bryant and A.Bryant spun Preston, leading to a stoppage. A,Bryant’s car was too badly damaged to take the re-start, so Penfold led the re-start, from O.Bryant, then T.Heathcote, then J.Heathcote, T.Heathcote nipped up the inside of O.Bryant for 2nd , then T.Heathcote went round the outside of Penfold to take the lead, then O.Bryant had a tank slapper and had to swerve on to the infield to recover it and retired out of 3rd, then was a big scrap for 3rd with Cocks, 610 Alfie Murray, Ralfs, Mitchell, and J.Heathcote swapping places. T.Heahcote went on to take the win from Penfold, then J.Heathcote.
