PREVIEW: HALLOWEEN HAVOC! SAT 25TH OCT - 3PM

October 22, 2025

Welcome everybody to Mendips Raceway on what is the end of the season finale. Big races and big action finishing off with a big bang or two as our traditional firework spectacular rounds off proceedings for the season

Junior Rods

Another season concludes for the youngsters in the Junior Rods, which has been dominated by the Bryant boys, Archie (511) and Ollie (111), who have been truly dominant in this season's proceedings. It is going to take something spectacular or for an unlucky misfortune to befall those boys to stop them from cleaning up. The track Championship could end up in tears at the dinner table, with Archie leading Ollie by 8 points. If misfortune befalls them. Austin Latimer (620) and Henry Chiplen (107) are still in mathematical contention with a maximum
40 points available. With it being the last meeting for some of the drivers retiring, it's an opportunity for them to go out of a bang. The West of England championship concludes the season. Who will follow Max Barraclough 314 as the new champion?

Special Rods

The non-contact formula concludes another busy season for the log contact for the rear-wheel drive class. Andrew Bressington (278) leads the way in the points with consistent scores from the Tiverton-based driver. Near to him it's Tom Bristow (60) who it is has been a very much chequers or wreckers season but is still in contention for the silver roof as points champion. With regards to the rest of England. Jason Oliver (303) will look to defend his title in good steed with his new build BMW finally providing rewards. Keep an eye out on the lower graded. Nigel Manadon (254) who has conveniently dropped to blue and will be hard to catch from that grade. Hopefully, he has a better day as last time he had a fiery blow-up up which caused havoc for everyone

Rookie Bangers

On what should be an abacus-agogo night for the Nudge and Spin merchants as anyone from 10 could be track champion. Louis Tomkins (105) leads the points from rookie regular Brad Hunt (775). Ash Harvey (49) returns in fine form, but young guns Liam Harvey (87), Ryan Brooks (210) and Thomas Gumbleton (198) need a few scores to get the draws. Add to that rookie legend Sweet Pete Warren (366), Chris Neville (109) and add former World Champ Jake Bond (743) to the mix and lo, what a potential firecracker of a meeting.

So, ladies and gentlemen, that concludes this year. We will be back in 2026. A full fixture list will be released in due course on our website, mendipsraceway.com, and also on our socials, so keep an eye out for that. We have a general meeting for the drivers on the 23rd of November and our annual dinner and dance is a must get to shindig to whiff the winter blues away.

Until then see you in 2026

Cheers n gone

Jonny
