PREVIEW: CRASHMANIA 25! Sun 3 August 2025 - 1PM

July 30, 2025

Welcome to the Pink Day here at Mendips as we good racing folk raise money to enable the vital research to prevent cancer taking too many of our dear friends. So the quarter mile will be a series shade of cerise as BriSCA F2, Special Rods and Bangers take to the raceway.

PRE MATCH ENTERTAINMENT

Firstly, the annual tyre tossing event is ready to go to see if those can chuck some rubber in various styles. We've seen discus and hammer styles, even cable tossing, Highland style!.

At around 12:45pm, another mighty fine ride from our former starter Andy Chant and photographer friend Neil Dopson will be riding from our neighbouring track at Smeatharpe near Honiton and coming the up via the Gorge to here. It has raised over £1600 for the regions Air Ambulances (Cornwall, Devon, Somerset and Dorset). So give them a worthy cheer on their laps of honour

BriSCA F2 – PINK RIBBON TROPHY in memory of Lesley Maidment The F2s are here in good number and will be chasing National Points in the road to the silver roof.

The Pink Ribbon trophy is certainly one that is seriously contested between the drivers. Last year, Dan Kent (976) won the trophy in emotional style in an end of a rich vain of form which saw the driver take 2 finals at the track that week. A fortuitous drop to yellow will see him a bit of favourite for retaining it this year.

Ritchie Andrews (605) double race winner last time now has a blue roof, but could be one to watch. World Champ Luke Wrench (1) aims to be in attendance, fresh from winning the Champions Challenge at the Skeggy UK weekend, beating F1 World Champ Tom Harris and Saloon World Champ Archie Brown at their own game.

Another round of the Mighty White Series takes place with the legendary sponsorship from the Mike Cocks Massive. There will be track debuts for former Junior Rod track champion Charlie Cocks (262) and Angelo Carey (878).

Lesley Maidment was a lap scorer here at Mendips, but perhaps best known as mother of driver Nathan Maidment, who will be looking to win another Pink Ribbon. His car should be familiar to our promoter!!!

BANGERS – FILOs CRASHMANIA in memory of Phil Cleverly Our annual remembrance of the Mendips banger master cruelly taken so soon to cancer see the team format again. Last years champs, Red and Whites or Team RAW of messrs Tompkins, McDade, Melksham and Tyler will be defending.

Pre race favourites seems to be Team Sofa King Amazing of Ryan Hall (99), Joe Odhams (154), Ryan Brooks (210) and Ben Wall (595). Likewise the Wallbangers Ash (49), Jason (86)and Liam Harvey (87) – who the vodka, Galliano and orange juice is to be discussed. They will be joined in inebriation by robin racer Matt Dixon (509) on four wheels.
Team tactics and scores on the doors will be done accordingly!

SPECIAL RODS including Ladies Race!

The tin top precison merchants are back for another meeting. Following away days to the purple tracks which saw Jody Jeanes (133) get victorious and Nik Loader (445). Andrew Bressington (278) leads the points and Tom Bristow (60) keeps him honest.

The girls are back to only one race. Susie Bennet has once again hit the ground running with the fundraising in persuading the girls to get on the track and persuading the drivers to part with the more precious thing! Once again, infamous Pit Food Shack girls Jayne and Nutty will be hitting the track, swapping flipping burgers for the raceway.

Next time the midweekers start with added bike stunt show on this Wednesday and caravan robin stunt on the 20th. The Bangers World Series also will take place promoted by Spedeworth also takes place this month.
