In contrast to 2009, the over cast morning skies gave way to glorious summer sunshine as the Raceway turned pink for our annual celebration of the life of Phil Cleverely, much loved and missed banger driver and wit, and the fund raising efforts that we all make at this event to aid the research into cures for cancer.
As the cars paraded and grouped up on the track for the first race, Abbie and Marie Webb arrived right on cue from their punishing 14 miles walk, all in pink, and received a round of applause from the whole stadium.

We seem to say it every year, but once again it has flown by and we are already well into the second half of the season as we head into our upcoming meeting, this Sunday the 25th.
2010 is already shaping up to be a year that will be well remembered for good racing from good entries, despite the difficult economic times that we currently live in. Sunday promises to add to the good times, but of course it is tinged with poignancy as we remember one time Banger racer ‘Filo’ Phil Cleverley who was taken from us a few years ago after losing his battle with cancer.
